“MAGNOLIA ROOTS MUSIC strives to welcome traditional acoustic string music to Gainesville and surrounding North Central Florida, as
played by exciting international musicians renowned in their respective genres (and cross-genres!) as they tour the nation. Promoting live
performances of this music is essential for keeping it alive and thriving among us.
This is the mission envisaged by  MAGNOLIA ROOTS MUSIC,and represented by its annual series of live concerts and teaching
workshops in local venues and homes.

Workshop - Gypsy Jazz

Workshop: An introduction to the exciting gypsy jazz style of violinist Stéphane Grappelli and guitarist Django Reinhardt. Subjects will include jazz improvisation
and stylistic tips, such as slides, blue notes, and syncopated jazz rhythms, while teaching you the most popular gypsy jazz standards “Duke and Dukie”
(Django Reinhardt), and “Honeysuckle Rose” (Fats Waller).

Workshop by Kevin and Neil: Friday, February 21 at 6:30 - 8:30 pm at the Coron Residence, 6334 NW 33rd St. Gainesville, FL 32653.
The workshop will include a short set by Kevin and Neil before the duo begins teaching. Come prepared to be enriched by the beautiful music of the Shetland Islands.

Tickets for active participants is $35, observing participants $20
